In this interdisciplinary role, I taught both Fine Arts and Design across Years 7 to 10. In Year 9, I taught portraiture and observational drawing, with students working in a range of media including pencil, pen, ink, watercolour, and collage. Year 10 marked the beginning of the GCSE programme, where students refined their technical skills and deepened their understanding of art as a form of communication, working in wet, dry, and three-dimensional media according to the British National Curriculum. In Design, my lessons incorporated digital tools such as Photoshop and TinkerCad, as well as practical equipment including the die-cutter, vacuum-former, badge-press, and precision craft blades. Students explored product development, marketing strategies, and manufacturing methods, culminating in the creation of a take-home product. This high-volume, fast-paced teaching model demanded strong time management and consistent assessment to support project completion and student success.
